The Impressum Books Publishing Package
The way Impressum Books works is simple. Authors submit a proposal. Books we think have potential are accepted. It is important to note that we accept only works which fall within the literary sensibilities and publishing subject areas we are focused on. We operate with the same aesthetic and liteary criteria of the “best” traditional literary presses. We publish in the following categories:
- General non-fiction
- Memoirs
- Fiction
- Politics
- Health
- Travel
The author sends us the manuscript, and the professionals on our team then do everything a trade publisher would normally do with a book from that point on, from editorial advice, through to distribution. Including:
- Assigning of separate ISBN numbers for Hardcover and/or Trade Paperback versions of the book
- Formatting (typesetting) of the interior of the book
- Obtaining a barcode/EAN for the back cover
- Designing an original color cover
- Assisting in the writing and editing of back cover copy
- Setup of title for Print-on-Demand (POD)
- Printing physical proof and overnighting it to author
- Listing the book in Ingram and Baker and Taylor databases
- Submitting the title to the “Books in Print” database
- Listing the title on bookselling sites such as Amazon, B&N online and many others….
- Creating a webpage about the book and author on Impressum Books’ website
Further Breakdown of Package Elements:
- Editorial Guidance.
- Marketing Copy. We write professional marketing copy that can be used for back cover text, press releases, flyers, and industry announcements.
- Copy Editing/proofing. We copy edit and proof the manuscript to correct style, spelling and grammar.
- Cover design. We create mockups of several different possible cover treatments, selecting the best, then refining it for a quality final finished print-ready cover.
- Typesetting. We use the most ideal interior book design for the typesetting of your book. Your book is typeset to the highest professional standards.
- Print scheduling and quality control. We interface intensively with the printer to make sure the print job stays on track, to solve any print problems as they arise, and ensure high quality of the finished product.
- Order fulfillment and warehousing. The book goes from the printer to the warehouse, where we handle all your invoicing, picking and packing, shipping, customer service, billing and collections.
- Translation rights sales. We send copies of the finished book to our foreign translation agents, and offer the book to them for translation rights sales. Authors typically earn from $1,000 to $10,000 for each language sold, however there are no guarantees of success; some books will sell a dozen foreign language rights, others will sell none.
IMPRESSUM BOOKS STANDARD PUBLISHING OPTION:
We charge a flat rate for ALL the above services. We collaborate with you on crucial items like cover design and title selection, however our team handles any and all problems that arise, and you are brought into the process only at key decision points.
Once a manuscript has been accepted by Impressum Books you don’t have to worry about any of the above issues. They are all taken care of, and included in our fee
